Great video that really focuses on some of the pressing constraints in data center design and what HP is doing to overcome it. What impressed me was Mr. Patel’s distilled delivery of a singular vision.
Practical to the core, he sees the aspects he & his team can control. I was just 2 years old when he joined HP (1983)!!! I hope I will have his boundless enthusiasm for IT @ my 20 year mark!
One aspect he cannot control is how much proper software infrastructure can contribute to reducing the energy footprint of a datacenter. Organizations that approach the datacenter / joule reduction problem correctly will not simply focus on how to provision resources and monitor them correctly but also put in the hard yards to differentiate software utility from software customization.
